‘It’s how football goes’ – Eberechi Eze makes admission over Crystal Palace campaign after win over Brighton
Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze addmited his season has been a bit up and down but believes he is building up his rhythm now ahead of the final stage of the campaign.
The Greenwich-born playmaker picked up his ninth and 10th Premier League goal contributions of the season in Palace’s 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday, setting up Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daniel Munoz for both of their goals.
Eze also netted the opener in Palace’s 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham last weekend when he shot from distance beyond Bernd Leno to open the scoring.
He also scored his first goal for England in Thomas Tuchel’s first camp as boss, adding their third in a 3-0 World Cup qualifying clash against Latvia.
“It’s been a bit of a weird season – up and down – but it’s good to get some rhythm now,” said Eze.
“It’s how football goes sometimes. I’ve picked up a few injuries here and there – I struggled to get a bit of rhythm.
“It’s good to be playing now and feeling a bit more free – I’m getting stronger and stronger each game.
“It’s important for me to be playing and feeling good. I’m getting to where I think I’m performing.
“It’s not the best – it’s building. For sure, there is more to come.
“I’m enjoying football. Long may it continue.”
Palace are four points off the European places and take on Aston Villa in the semi–final of the FA Cup in the coming weeks.
“It’s definitely special,” said Eze.
“We have a lot to achieve this season and we believe we can do it.
“The mentality is to keep going, keep pushing, and see where we can get to.”
