‘It’s not good enough’ – Charlton goalscorer reacts to 3-2 loss at Bristol Rovers
Matty Godden wants Charlton to get back to being “horrible” as they look to emerge from their League One funk.
The former Coventry striker scored and assisted late on in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers.
The Addicks have lost three in a row and have dropped to mid-table.
“It’s not good enough and not how the gaffer wants us to play,” Godden told Charlton TV. “It’s tough to put words on it at the moment.
“I see every day how the gaffer gets us working…we need to do more, it’s just as simple as that.
“This club means too much to me to be that sort of person to hide behind the fact I scored a goal. All I want to do is help the club achieve something – that’s why I came down from Coventry (in the summer). So when it doesn’t go our way it hurts.
“It is about us being more aggressive and being horrible. We need a horrible 1-0 win somewhere that is scrappy and that we have to fight for – because that is what we did at the start of the season.
“Okay, it might not look the best, but we were really horrible to play against. We played some good stuff – but that came when we were horrible and you get time to play the good stuff.”
