Jonny Williams set to make return at QPR after Charlton midfielder not risked against Hull City

Jonny Williams is on track to be involved in Charlton’s trip to QPR next weekend.

Lee Bowyer had hoped that the Welsh international would be fit enough to feature in his matchday squad for Friday evening’s home draw with Hull – but the midfielder has been given more time to recover from a knee injury he sustained during the 3-0 win over Derby in mid-October.

‘[I was told] just to not be stupid and take the risk,” said Bowyer, on the advice given to him by the club’s medical staff.

“We’ve got a full week next week training, don’t take any unnecessary risks. One-hundred percent, he’ll be on the bench (at QPR). As long as he comes through the week’s training. He’ll start training Monday, he’ll have a full week’s training and then he’ll be on the bench at QPR.”
