Lee Bowyer “very, very close” to signing long-term Charlton Athletic contract
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton manager Lee Bowyer is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract.
The Addicks boss had set a timeline of last weekend for his future to be resolved.
Charlton chairman Matt Southall announced last Thursday that a five-year deal was on the table for Bowyer, who has attracted interest from Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City this season.
Further negotiations took place this week between Southall and Bowyer’s agent Rob Segal with an agreement looking close after talks on Wednesday evening.
“We are nearly there,” Bowyer told the South London Press on Thursday morning. “We are very, very close.
“There were very positive talks last night. There are just a couple of little things which need adjusting and sorting out.”
