Leeds United defender confident of response against Millwall as promotion hopes dented by Pompey loss

Pascal Struijk is backing his Leeds United side to bounce back from a rare Championship loss when they host Millwall tomorrow night.

The Yorkshire outfit were beaten 1-0 at Portsmouth on Sunday.

Leeds are still top but now only on goal difference after dropping five points in their last two fixtures.

United defender Struijk is confident of a response against the Lions at Elland Road. He said: “Games come really fast, so we have to turn it around quick.

“We will try to make sure the boys are not too down, we try to keep the spirits high, because the games come so quick. We need to be ready again on Wednesday.

“This is the Championship, so I am going to say one of the toughest leagues out there, you play so many games and they come around really fast. On Wednesday, we will go again.”

Leeds boss Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Leeds: “If you want to finish in the top positions in this league you have to show consistency – the title is not won in February or March, it always goes to the wire.

“You have to prove yourselves every single game, we have some difficult matches coming up and we don’t take anything for granted.

“I know we can be better and much more effective.

“It’s a long road and it’s tough – overall this season we have been impressive, we just have to make sure we are a bit more effective in our upcoming games.”
