Leyton Orient attacker Donley: Charlton match is biggest game of our season
Leyton Orient attacker Jamie Donley has made no attempt to dial down the importance of Saturday’s home game against Charlton Athletic.
The Addicks are level on points with the east Londoners, who have suffered successive losses to Bolton and Birmingham, and also have a match in hand.
With Huddersfield also slipping up in midweek, it means that Charlton are in control of their destiny as they look to chase down a top-six finish.
Donley, on loan from Tottenham, told BBC Radio London’s The London Sport Show: “I know we’ve had two losses in a row but but I still don’t think it has changed the way we are. We were in training today (Tuesday) with yesterday (a 2-0 loss at leaders Birmingham) still in our mind.
“But look again for another massive game on Saturday and it is probably the biggest game of the season now – they keep coming.
“They are on the same points as us and we’ve played a game extra. If we win it puts us ahead of them and that’s where we want to be. We want to be in that top six by the end of the season and we’ll carry on with what we’ve been doing the last two months because that has been getting us success.
“Being at home helps. We’ll have really good support and I think everyone is looking forward to it.”
Donley has scored six goals and collected six assists in 36 matches for Orient this season.
