Millwall academy defender completes Premier League switch
Brentford have announced the signing of Millwall academy defender Josh Stephenson on a four-year contract.
Stephenson won the Lions’ academy Player of the Season last term and was crucial to their run to the FA Youth Cup semi-final.
The 18-year-old was offered a professional deal with the Lions but has opted to join Brentford’s B team.
There is the option to extend his stay with the west Londoners for a further 12 months.
No fee has been agreed with the South Londoners so the fee will be decided by a tribunal.
Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “He is a good young defender who we cannot wait to start working with.
“He is a hugely driven individual, and we look forward to pushing him to reach his future potential.
“We welcome him to the club and look forward to him continuing to develop during his time with us.”
