Millwall boss on ruptured achilles injury for goalkeeper Jensen plus double midfielder blow
Millwall boss Alex Neil has confirmed that goalkeeper Lukas Jensen has suffered a ruptured achilles tendon which is likely to rule him out for a significant portion of next season.
The Danish shotstopper, who joined the Lions from Lincoln City last summer, was absent from the squad during Millwall’s 4-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
Following the Lions’ 3-1 victory over Norwich City this afternoon, head coach Neil provided an update on the club’s number one.
“Lukas Jensen has ruptured his achilles tendon,” said Neil.
“Liam Roberts, who is our second goalkeeper, is not available, so we’ve got young George (Evans) in goal. As for how long Lukas will be out, it’s as long term as a ruptured achilles takes—which is not soon.
“I’d have thought he would be missing for a fair chunk of next season.”
Neil also revealed further injury concerns ahead of the final two games of the Championship season, with midfielders Billy Mitchell and George Honeyman set to be sidelined.
“Billy felt his calf at Blackburn, which is why I took him off,” said the Lions chief. “Then George, just before we went into some 11-v-11 stuff yesterday, stretched for a ball and felt his hamstring.
“Unfortunately, both couldn’t make it, and I think they will struggle to feature in the last two games.”
