Millwall complete loan deal for Chelsea defender as keeper makes permanent move to Milton Keynes
Millwall have added Chelsea left-back Zak Sturge to their squad – with the youngster arriving on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Lions have seen their options depleted down that side of the pitch with Liverpool loanee Calum Scanlon facing a major battle to be fit before the end of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Sturge will provide cover and competition for first-choice Joe Bryan – Scanlon also played further forward than the ex-Fulham defender since Alex Neil was appointed head coach.
Sturge spent time on loan with Peterborough United last season.
Millwall’s director of football Steve Gallen told the club’s website: “We’ve been watching Zak Sturge for a while now.
“We decided to make a move for him given the current situation. He is an athlete, is big, strong and direct and very attack-minded.
“We thank Chelsea for their assistance in getting this deal done – he is going to be a very good addition to the squad.”
Millwall goalkeeper Connal Trueman has joined Milton Keynes on a permanent basis.
