Millwall head coach gives verdict on debut for club record signing Mihailo Ivanovic
Millwall head coach Neil Harris has given his verdict on club record signing Mihailo Ivanovic ticking off his debut for the South London club.
The young Serbian frontman, snapped up on the final day of the summer transfer window from Vojvodina, came on in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against QPR.
“It was great to see Mihailo on the football pitch – and Femi (Azeez) on the pitch again,” Harris told Millwall TV. “Young players with bright futures.
“Mihailo has come into the group and hardly trained. Macca (Langstaff) has done a brilliant 75 minutes for us and we just felt that Mihailo, we’ve seen it in training already, he is a handful in and around the penalty area.
“There’s a lot of us to learn about Mihailo but it was great to see the fans go with him. It will be great for him to get that Millwall debut under his belt.”
Harris also had a pat on the back for captain Jake Cooper, who started at Loftus Road despite coming off against Luton Town with a calf injury.
“I can’t praise Jake highly enough,” he said. “He hasn’t trained all week – he didn’t train properly on Friday. But he insisted he wanted to play and that he was fit, ready to go.
“There aren’t many players who can come off one weekend and be fit the weekend after. That is his Millwall mentality and his mentality as a professional.”
