Millwall manager Rowett has three fresh injury doubts for AFC Bournemouth match
Millwall manager Gary Rowett has seen his selection options depleted even further for Wednesday night’s home game against AFC Bournemouth – with three players picking up injuries which are set to rule them out.
The Lions are already without Shaun Hutchinson, Ryan Leonard, Ben Thompson, Matt Smith and Kenneth Zohore. The latter is pencilled in to train tomorrow.
But Rowett has revealed that Shane Ferguson, Mason Bennett and Murray Wallace are all expected to miss the visit of the play-off chasing Cherries.
“Fergie has had a groin issue for a while,” said the Millwall boss. “He has been to see a specialist and it looks like he will have to have an operation.
“Mason has got a calf strain and will be touch and go for Wednesday.
“Murray Wallace has had a scan and looks like he is potentially going to be ruled out for Wednesday. Murray got a whack or twisted his knee against Brentford. He got through it but the scan showed some damage – I don’t think it is horrendous, but enough to probably rule him out.
“At the moment I think we’ve got six subs on the bench. That’s where we stand now and what we will go with. I don’t see the benefit of bringing two young players up who are not ready, just to sit on the bench so it looks like we have got eight.”
