Millwall transfer record signing produced ‘unbelievable finish’ in win at Luton Town

Millwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic has earned praise off team-mate George Saville for his performance in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Luton Town.

The Serbian international, a club record signing at the end of the summer transfer window, scored an excellent goal at Kenilworth Road to earn a first victory for new head coach Alex Neil.

Ivanovic struck from the edge of the box. It was the 20-year-old’s fourth goal in Lions colours.

Saville told Millwall TV: “It was an unbelievable finish. His all-round game today was excellent, not just the goal.

“He was handful all day and he linked the game well and got us up the pitch. He was really good.

“We (as a team) were terrific. We did the ugly side of the game really well – first and second balls. The gaffer said how important that side of the game would be. We were able to play a bit and create good chances.”

“We’ve had a tough run in terms of results and injuries but it is about sticking with it. On Tuesday we should’ve got over the line and didn’t (Cardiff scoring a late equaliser). Today was a really good performance.”
