Mitrovice to stay on Fulham penalty duties as Brentford head to Craven Cottage

Marco Silva has backed Aleksandar Mitrovic to score the next penalty awarded to Fulham after the striker failed to convert a spot-kick last weekend at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Whites drew 0-0 at Molineux with the Serbian international denied by Jose Sa after Bobby Decordova-Reid was fouled, writes Kai Bennett.

Fulham boss Silva said: “Mitro knows that the next penalty will be there, the next penalty he will take, and the next penalty he will score. That is part of the game. Last week he had one and he scored. It’s part of the life of a football player.”

Fulham take on Brentford on Saturday – the first meeting between the pair since they beat the Bees 2-1 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium three seasons ago.

The Whites have drawn their opening two top-flight fixtures and impressed in an opening day 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Thomas Frank’s Brentford demolished Manchester United 4-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium last time out – Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo all scoring inside the opening 35 minutes.
