Nathan Jones asked about Lloyd Jones’ future – with in-form centre-back’s contract talks ‘ongoing’

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones says that contract talks with centre-half Lloyd Jones are “ongoing.”

The defender, 29, was signed on a two-year deal after departing Cambridge United in summer 2023.

The former Luton Town man has been a big part of an Addicks defence that has conceded less than a goal a game in League One this term.

His contract is up at the end of his campaign – whilst the January transfer window is open now.

When asked about Lloyd’s future, Nathan Jones said: “Look, what I’m saying is if anyone wants to come in for Lloyd Jones – he’s a prized asset for us. We’re ongoing in terms of contract talks. He’s another one that’s actually found a home.

“I signed him for Luton and working with him. He was a lot younger than he is now and we had two real excellent, experienced, serial promotion-winning centre-halves in our team at the time. So I’ve got a chance to work with him again.

“He’s really found a home in everything here now. So, look, we want to make it a longer-term home for him. That’s ongoing.”
