Nigel Adkins provides injury update on Charlton striker Conor Washington

Conor Washington is set to miss Charlton’s Easter matches with the hamstring strain he suffered last weekend at AFC Wimbledon.

The striker was in form with four goals in his last three matches heading into the Plough Lane fixture.

But Washington was replaced in the opening minutes by Diallang Jaiyesimi, who went on to score in the 2-2 draw.

Charlton manager Nigel Adkins told the South London Press: “Without giving away too much information to the opposition, Conor has got a hamstring injury. We’ve got excellent medical staff here, I’ve identified that already.

“Obviously he is not going to be available for the Easter games. We’ll just assess it and see how he goes from there. All players respond differently to treatment – some are quicker than others. We’ll see how that goes.

“He’s not gone away with Northern Ireland, and I spoke with Ian Baraclough [national team manager] as well. We’ve got excellent treatment here.

“I’m always the optimist and we’ll see how that progresses.

“He was doing really, really well. It’s such a shame he got injured. And in the first minute of your first game, it means you have to change your formation and different things. It was a great experience for me at the weekend, I learned many, many things.”
