‘Not good enough’ – Streatham head coach slams performance following Invicta Dynamos defeat

BY CHRISTOPHER BEAL

Ben Paynter slammed Streatham’s performance after they lost 3-0 to Invicta Dynamos on Sunday.

The South Londoners started the weekend with a 7-4 victory over Slough Jets in NIHL 1.

Ziggy Beesley (two), Ewan Hill, Harvey Briggs, Callum Burnett  (two) and Brandon Miles were Streatham’s scorers.

But player-coach Paynter was left fuming at the reverse the following night.

He said: “That was abysmal, simple as that.

“It was not good enough. We can’t think we can coast through games against any team in this league. If it hadn’t been for Danny Milton, we would have lost 10-0.

“As a team, we need to figure things out.”

The game was scoreless going into the third period, Josh Ealey-Newman struck the base of the post with the two net-minders – Dynamos’ Owen Rider and Streatham’s Danny Milton – stopping everything thrown at them.

Dynamos scored twice in quick succession in the third, Richard Harris burying the puck from Mads Thune’s set up in the 45th minute.

Tommy Huggett set up Stanislav Lascek for Invicta’s second a minute later.

Paynter called a time-out and the RedHawks rallied – but Rider would and his defence denied any shot on net and forced puck carriers wide.

Paynter rolled the dice in the 58th minute, pulling Milton for the extra attacker. But it backfired as Lascek quickly found the empty net.

Streatham travel to Oxford on Sunday before welcoming the Romford Buccaneers on Sunday, October 29.
