Oliver Glasner delivers injury news ahead of Man United – Crystal Palace midfielder set for several weeks on the sidelines
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Cheick Doucoure will be out for several weeks due to a toe injury he suffered in the 2-2 draw with Leicester.
The Mali international midfielder was making his first Premier League start under Glanser after returning from a lengthy layoff after snapping his Achilles against Luton last November.
Doucoure, 24, was subbed off at half-time for Will Hughes.
Glasner said: “I thought I knew every injury in football. He has some [injury] to do with the tendon on the toe – we will miss him for several weeks.
“The tendon has to heal, so it will take a little bit. It’s a bad situation for him, but he will be back in a few weeks.
“He was sad, but he had a lot of pain during the [Leicester] game and after the game.
“We are pleased that it’s not so serious because it was so painful that we worried it was a serious injury.
“It’s not – it’s several weeks. He was out for eight months, so several weeks is a short period.”
Brazilian youngster Matheus Franca has missed the start of the season after he fractured his rib in pre-season training.
“He has recovered quicker than expected,” said Glasner, who was expecting to be without the 20-year-old for a number of weeks.
“He trained with the team on Wednesday and today.
“It’s still a little bit too early [for him to play]. He will train next week – he’s coming back.”
Deadline day signing Trevoh Chalobah will still be missing with an abdominal injury he picked up in his first training session with the club.
However, the Eagles boss hopes the Chelsea loanee will be back for next Saturday’s clash at Everton.
