‘Pleasing performance’ – Millwall midfielder George Saville assesses 0-0 draw at West Brom

George Saville was satisfied with Millwall’s performance – and point – at West Bromwich Albion yesterday.

The Lions drew 0-0 at The Hawthorns and moved up to fifth in the Championship with seven matches to play.

“We played really well,” midfielder Saville told Millwall TV. “We restricted them quite a lot, considering their home form since their new manager came in.

“To walk away with a point and a pleasing performance is good.

“You look at other results and people drop points. Getting a point today is a positive.”

The experience of Saville and midfield partner Ryan Leonard helped break up West Brom’s attempts to string passes together.

And the former Wolves and Middlesbrough player also took a yellow card, tripping Brandon Thomas-Asante as he threatened to lead a Baggies counter.

“It’s good playing with Lenny,” said Saville. “We put our foot in. We held shape really well. All the lads played really well. We had a game plan and we knew what we had to do today. We’re going to suffer at times but overall we played really well. For half an hour in the second half I thought we could nick a chance.”

Asked if the squad had talked about targets needed to finish in the top six, Saville replied: “No. Luton next week, that’s what we look at. We have to attack the game.”
