Preston striker could miss Millwall clash as FA investigate alleged ‘bite’
Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic could miss Saturday’s match at Millwall after the FA said they were aware of allegations of an alleged biting incident in last weekend’s fixture against Blackburn Rovers.
Rovers youngster Owen Beck was sent off late on in the game at Deepdale but insisted he had been bitten by Osmajic on his upper back.
The FA confirmed on Monday they were “aware of this incident and will be looking into it”.
Osmajic, 25, had been yellow carded for the part he played in the melee which followed after Beck had kicked North End’s Duane Holmes.
Preston will be without Sam Greenwood after the midfielder was dismissed in the first half of the same match.
North End manager Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Lancashire: “All I can say is, there no place for that [biting] and we know you can’t do that. Mistimed tackles and things like that are part and parcel of the game, you accept them.
“Anything that’s not, we know how that’s dealt with. But I’ve not seen anything so I’m just going off [the media] saying there’s an incident.”
Blackburn boss John Eustace told BBC Lancashire: “Owen’s got a big bite mark on the back of his neck and it’s a shame the referee didn’t see that.
“It’s a very serious incident, no-one likes to be bitten.
“Everyone’s angry about it. It’s not a nice situation to be in. I’m sure the right people will see it and we’ll take it from there.”
Osmajic joined Preston from Spanish side Cadiz for a club record fee in September 2023.
