Richard Riakporhe to face Poland cruiserweight on January 21 bill in Manchester

Richard Riakporhe is expecting a world title fight if he successfully comes through his fight against Krzysztof Glowacki on January 21 in Manchester.

The Walworth cruiserweight has been added to the Chris Eubank Junior-Liam Smith undercard.

Riakporhe, 32, is 15-0 in the professional ranks and is highly ranked by a number of the major governing bodies.

Poland’s Glowacki does not look a major test. The 36-year-old has a 32-3 record and has been stopped in two of his last three bouts in WBO world title challenges to Lawrence Okolie and Mairis Breidis.

“Krzysztof Glowacki is an ex world champion and he’s not a pushover,” Riakporhe told Sky Sports, who will televised the BOXXER event. “I have to be on my A-game. There are going to be fireworks, believe me.”

Asked if a world title bout needed to follow the Glowacki contest, the South Londoner replied: “It has to be. If not, then maybe someone is not doing their job – either me or [the] team.

“It’s in the best interests for everybody. There is a big buzz in the cruiserweight division, especially the UK. These organisations need to start giving us the shots and opportunities.”
