Roy Hodgson provides Crystal Palace injury news ahead of Manchester City – Summer signing in line for Premier League debut

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says Dean Henderson could make his Premier League debut for the club tomorrow at Manchester City.

The 26-year-old picked up a quad injury on his debut for the South Londoners in the 3-0 EFL Cup defeat at Manchester United.

Henderson joined Palace from Man United in the summer on a five-year deal.

Sam Johnstone picked up a calf injury in the 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool last season.

Jefferson Lerma and Odsonne Edouard also suffered injuries in the defeat against the Reds.

Tyrick Mitchell is also in line to return to the starting line-up after being forced off in the 2-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.

Hodgson confirmed there will be four academy players on the bench for the Eagles tomorrow.

Palace are winless in their last five Premier League outings.

“Tyrick Mitchell is OK which is good,” Hodgson said at his pre-match press conference.

“Mitchell is the only one really who is back.

“Dean Henderson has trained this week – it is probably too early to play. We may have been obliged to ask him to play but the medical department would like him to have more time I think. The same with Ebere Eze.

“We are already missing important players in terms of [Jordan] Ayew, who is suspended, the goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, we are missing Jefferson Lerma, of course and missing Odsonne Edouard.

“So that is the spine of a team we had to play large parts of the game against Liverpool without, and that will be the same again tomorrow.”
