‘Sensational season’ – Gary Rowett on Murray Wallace winning Player of the Year
Gary Rowett has given his verdict on Murray Wallace winning Millwall’s Player of the Year award.
The accolade is voted for by the Lions supporters.
Right wing-back Danny McNamara finished runner-up with Bartosz Bialkowski, who won the honour in the previous two seasons, in third.
Millwall boss Rowett told the South London Press: “Anyone who has knocked Bart off the Player of the Year perch has had a sensational season.
“Muzza is a player who has just got better and better since I’ve come to the club, not because of me but because of him and his attitude every day to improve.
“The way he handles the ball has massively improved and his defending has just got better and better. He is the sort of player that reaps the rewards of what he has done in the week – he trains well and does all the right things off the pitch.
“That is why he has played so well. All the players recognise that he has probably been our standout performer this season. And the fans recognise it. It’s thoroughly deserved.
“He’s had a really consistent season – at both ends of the pitch. He has defended well, attacked well and he has scored goals.”
McNamara won the Junior Lions Player of the Year award. Tyler Burey won Young Player of the Year with Zak Lovelace the club’s Schoolboy of the Year.
