Two red cards in Bromley’s 3-0 loss at Chesterfield Town

Bromley manager Andy Woodman and defender Omar Sowunmi were sent off in Tuesday’s 3-0 loss at Chesterfield.

Centre-back Sowunmi was making his 100th appearance for the Ravens but was shown a straight red card in the 23rd minute for a lunging challenge on Tom Naylor.

Woodman was also dismissed in the aftermath, reacting angrily towards the home dugout area.

Armando Dobra put Chesterfield ahead in the 36th minute, finding the top right corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Bromley’s hopes of a comeback were ended in the 82nd minute when he slid in to convert a low cross by Dobra.

Paddy Madden added a third in the first minute of stoppage time.

Chesterfield boss Danny Webb said: “We’ve been up against 10 men for two weeks running now – it’s nice that referees are giving decisions for us and looking after our players. But you have still got to beat a good and well-drilled Bromley team, who try to utilise a low block at the best of times.

“I thought it was a red card. I’m sure they’ve got a fair shout that they should’ve had a penalty near the end but we’ve had a lot of things go against us this season, so it’s nice to have something go our way.”

The defeat – Bromley’s eighth in League Two this season – leaves Woodman’s side 13th in the standings.

The Ravens have not won since a 3-0 success at Gillingham on January 2, losing four of their last five in all competitions.

They are at home to Grimsby Town on Saturday.
