Tyreece Campbell thanks Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones for his belief in him

Charlton attacker Tyreece Campbell has thanked boss Nathan Jones for his belief in him this season.

The forward bagged a brace during Saturday’s 4-0 rout of Huddersfield Town at The Valley – taking him up to five League One strikes this campaign.

The Addicks academy graduate has been converted from a winger into a striker this season by Jones.

Campbell and Macauley Gillesphey have made the joint-most league appearances for the side this year – with each featuring in 38 of the 39 games played so far.

And Campbell says the faith his manager has shown in him has spurred him on this season.

He said: “From the start to now, I think I’ve improved. I want to thank the gaffer for helping me. His belief in me gives me confidence on the pitch to try stuff that I’ll do in training and stuff. So, yeah, thankful.

“We dominated from start to finish [against Huddersfield]. Good performance from the team. We were 2-0 up at half-time. Usually we struggle to get the third, but it was good to get the third today and put the game to bed.”
