“Watch this space” – Charlton boss Nigel Adkins addresses reports linking Addicks with move for Harry Arter

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Charlton boss Nigel Adkins says he’s aware of reports linking Nottingham Forest midfielder Harry Arter with a move back to The Valley.

The South London Press understands that Arter was in the crowd at The Valley for today’s 2-0 win over Crewe.

The 31-year-old, born in Sidcup, came through the ranks at Sparrows Lane but only ever made one first-team appearance before moving on to non-league Woking.

He has since had a successful career in the EFL and Premier League, including a 10-year stint at AFC Bournemouth but is now linked with a return to SE7 on loan.

When asked, Adkins said: “I am aware of that. There’s a lot of things going on, so you’re going to have to watch this space. I suppose, at the end of the day when somebody has signed a piece of paper and is announced as our player, then they’re announced as our player. I think you’ll find it could be quite an interesting three days over the weekend and going into Tuesday evening.

“I was reading a quote this morning from the Barnsley chairman talking about a player that had done a medical and everything. He’s in there ready to sign and the next thing is he’s disappeared and gone somewhere else. So, anything could happen.

“What we want to do is help a very honest, hard-working group of players. A young group with some real good senior players, to put ourselves in a position to achieve what we’ve set out to do.”
