‘What’s not to like?’ – Alex Neil pleased with winter signing’s Millwall debut in Luton win

Alex Neil was pleased with Tristan Crama’s first Millwall start in their 1-0 win at Luton on Saturday.

Defender Crama, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Exeter City, arrived from Brentford this January window and made his debut during the 2-2 draw with Cardiff City last Tuesday as a substitute for the injured Danny McNamara.

McNamara had replaced Ryan Leonard, who had also picked up an injury in the same game.

Both right-backs are set to be out for a period of time, with McNamara undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury.

It all meant that Crama’s debut as a Millwall player came at right-back rather than his natural position as a centre-back – but he had a solid afternoon at Kenilworth Road in that position against a tricky customer in Alfie Doughty.

“He’s a good player. He’s big, he’s strong, he’s quick, he’s good on the ball,” said Neil.

“What’s not to like? He looks a million dollars as well, doesn’t he?

“He’s played there [at right back] for Brentford, probably more for the B team in pre-season.

“But the fact is he’s got attributes that means he can do it. Is it his best position? I don’t believe that it is, but in the meantime, he’s more than willing to put himself on the line and go and do that for the team.”
