Whites not so hot at home as United inflict reverse – Silva sore at outcome

Fulham have earned plenty of plaudits for their Premier League home form under Marco Silva but Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United underlines some recent struggles at Craven Cottage.

The Whites headed into the contest against Ruben Amorim’s side unbeaten in their last five Premier League fixtures at their west London home.

But Fulham have won only once there since the 4-1 loss to Wolves at the end of November – a 3-1 success over Brighton.

And their four successive draws before the defeat to United included what should have been plum home fixtures against newly-promoted Southampton and Ipswich Town.

Lisandro Martinez’s 78th-minute winner, his shot taking a hugely-fortunate nick off Sasa Lukic to loop over Bernd Leno, handed the Mancunians a victory their performance did not merit.

Joachim Anderson came closest to an equaliser for Fulham but United substitute Toby Collyer made a headed goal-line clearance.

Silva told MOTD2: “It is a tough one to take, we were better than them.

“We were the dominant team and created more in the first half. I don’t remember one dangerous moment from them. If someone was to be leading at half-time it should be Fulham.

“The second half was more balanced – one lucky goal gave them the lead. They sat really deep.

“We are never that team that get it easy, we have to work hard to get the luck in our way. It was probably not the night for our three attacking players.”

Fulham are already without Reiss Nelson, who has been out since last month with a hamstring injury.

And the Arsenal loanee could be joined on the sidelines by Harry Wilson, who came off in the first half against United after twisting his ankle.
