Wimbledon complete deal for Crystal Palace keeper
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Owen Goodman has joined AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan deal.
Our paper initially reported the Dons were keen on a deal for the 20-year-old in late May.
Goodman spent last season on loan with League Two rivals Colchester United and featured 40 times during his first senior spell away from Selhurst Park.
He is set to battle it out with Lewis Ward for the number one spot at Plough Lane.
Aaron Ramsdale, George Long, Kelle Roos and Alex Bass have all had successful loan spells with the Dons.
“I’ve seen a lot of keepers come here and do well in the past, so that’s what I’m aspiring to,” Goodman told the club website.
“I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the Club. Bayzo is a character with an abundance of energy that is really going to drive me on to achieve great things.
“I feel that I’m a goalkeeper that can pulls off saves that others can’t make. I played 40 odd games in this league last season, so I feel excited for what the future holds for me with Wimbledon. The fans really get behind the team, it creates a terrifying atmosphere for the opposition.”
Johnnie Jackson said: “We’ve had to be patient to get Owen in but we were always really sure that he is the man we want. It’s great to get him in with the group. He’s experienced the level after having a good spell with Colchester last season.
“Crystal Palace have really high hopes for him. It’s a natural progression for him to come and join us and hopefully he will be a big player for us. We now have two really good goalkeepers in the building.”
