Striker boost for Charlton ahead of Forest fixture

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Macauley Bonne will return to the Charlton Athletic first-team fold for tomorrow night’s match at Nottingham Forest.

The striker has been out since the end of December with a hamstring injury sustained at Derby County.

But Bonne, snapped up from Leyton Orient in the summer, should boost the Addicks’ attacking options for a testing trip to the City Ground.

“Macauley will be on the bench,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “He’ll be back. He’s been training for a few days now, he’s been in and around it.

“Aiden [McGeady] is the same. He was ill at the weekend.”

Bowyer says there will be no issues for Lyle Taylor to start again. The striker came off struggling with cramp in the last home game – a 2-1 victory over Barnsley – but played the full match in the weekend reverse at Stoke City.

“I spoke to Lyle yesterday and he feels fine,” said the Charlton manager. “Now it is a case of Lyle just cracking on. He’ll be okay to start.”
