Students celebrate fine exam results at DLD College in Lambeth

After the dramatic U-turn from the government, DLD College London students are celebrating their justified teacher assessed results.

This now means that its Class of 2020 achieved a total of 50% A*-A grades, 76% A*-B, 93% A*-C and a 100% overall pass rate.

These results represent a significant improvement from previous years. Students embraced the online learning provided, which continued throughout the whole of lockdown, to secure their results.

Timetables continued online from day one of the lockdown and teachers made every effort to guide students the students through this unsettling period.

Principal Irfan Latif said: “This talented Class of 2020 have had to deal with a lot during the pandemic and we have been impressed by the resilience and determination they have shown throughout. From the beginning they should have received the centre-assessed grades that teachers and schools painstakingly produced during the crisis. The outstanding results attained by this cohort will certainly open doors but their personality and character will keep them open.  I am delighted that our students will now receive the results they so rightly deserve.”

One of the domestic students, Sid Wilson, will take up his place at Oxford University to read history, while another, Ruben Ticehurst-James, has received a President’s Scholarship to study maths at the University of Waterloo in Canada.

International students Diogo Lami Roque Mana Fortunato from Portugal, who achieved 3A*/A, and Nazanin Faghihi, from Iran, who achieved 3A*, will go on to read English literature at Durham and mathematics at Imperial College London respectively.

BTEC and IFP students are also celebrating. Almost a third (29 per cent) of the BTEC Extended Diploma students achieved the equivalent to three A*-A grades at A Level and 90 per cent achieved the equivalent of three A*-C grades.

Another of the college’s domestic students, Daniel Khan, who studied business BTEC, will go to the University of Leeds to read business management.

International student Elli Mohajeri Moghaddam, who studied creative digital media production BTEC and achieved the equivalent of 2A*/A is joining City, University of London to study media, communication and sociology.
