Tahnoon Nimer: We’ll use technology to help make Charlton Athletic stronger – we have five-year plan for the club

Tahnoon Nimer is determined to make Charlton Athletic supporters “happy” – and says East Street Investments will be at the cutting edge of technology and development.
ESI acquired the South London club off of Belgian Roland Duchatelet earlier this month.
And Syrian businessman Nimer is the majority shareholder in ESI. Matt Southall is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Addicks as he combines being both chairman and operating in a chief executive role.
Nimer says that ESI will be flying in specialists from the UAE to help solve the injury issues that have hugely disrupted Charlton’s Championship campaign.
The Addicks made an excellent start to the season and were looking as if they could be in the play-off mix. But a horrendous pile up of injuries – at its peak ruling out 13 or 14 players at one time – has seen their form nosedive with fears they could be in for a battle to safety.
Nimer said: “The first stage is a five-year vision for Charlton. We will plan carefully and with responsibility and we will try never to make the same mistakes that were made before.
“I have studied the history of the club and what it means to the supporters. The important thing is to make sure we do everything we can to make them happy.
“If they are happy, they will come to the matches in big numbers, which will inspire the players. If the players are inspired, then we will be successful.
“We are already considering the best way we can help Charlton. That is not always about spending lots of money, but about being at the forefront of technology and development.
“For example, we know there have been lots of injuries recently. So we will be speaking to the best private clinic in the UAE and taking specialists to London to run tests on the players to see if there are reasons behind those injuries. If there are, then we will use the knowledge these specialists possess to try and prevent a repeat.
“We are very serious about taking this club forward. That will be done with responsibility and planning. That is why we have targeted an initial five-year vision.”

And offer sensible contracts to players etc etc
We will end up in league 1.

Money is money and results are results !!
As a Charlton supporter of 65 years, I am glad to hear an owner being honest and sensible.
I watch the games now on Valley pass from Spain, which is not the same as watching live. Live you can see the frailties and the benefits which you can not on a big screen.
I hope when you do get over to Charlton to see your first live match you are able to appreciate that your presence as owner is like a breath of fresh air to the crowd.
Please enjoy the ups and downs of ownership.
As the highs are you never forget that goal, that pass or that save, especially your first live match.
We try not to remember the downs too many to think of.
Enjoy your tenure as you will never forget the experience.
Your other companies will make you more money but not the buzz you will get at Charlton.

Excellent comments from ‘The boss’ and so refreshing after the last few years under Roland Duchelet where there seemed to be a game plan in place with mistake after mistake made with playing staff, CEO and many other issues that saw Charlton in real trouble. I know actions speak louder than words, but we haven’t had that kind of verbal support for a long time ! Thanks to the efforts of Lee Bowyer and his back room team and shrewd dealings in loan players, Charlton are now on the way back up and despite the down turn in form, we must all try to be positive and trust in the new owners and the players that we will stay in the Championship this season and push onto better things next season.
Get rid of player recruitment first new media center 5 mth plan not 5 years we need signings is a must makes me think ESI haven’t got a pot to piss in
The question as to why we have suffered such injury problems for the last two seasons is a major concern. It is the reason why Chelsea recalled Gallagher and why we have slipped dangerously close to the trap door which threatens to undermine last seasons efforts. History shows that simply paying unwarranted hugh transfer fees does not guarantee success. We also desperately need both Lee and Lyle to sign new contracts, please please expediate.
Every effort must be made by the new owners to strengthen the squad and get players injury free if possible. We must stay in the Championship, build for next season with Lee and Lyle both on new contracts a priority.
I have been a supporter for68yrs and I must the press coverage of the club as always very minimal,as i live in Spain I look Always for Charlton in the Media.could the Press office at the Charlton be more forthright in there coverage,hoping the new owners will address this issue,always a supporter
