Tennis: Catford Wanderers’ vets struggle against Hartley Country Club

Catford Wanderers men’s veterans team were no match for North Kent League leaders Hartley Country Club as they lost 3.5-0.5 in their First Division clash, writes Denis Costelloe.

Hartley’s Peter Relf and Adrian Youseman had no difficulty in beating Wanderers’ Rob Dawbarn and John Clay, winning 6-2 6-2.

And the pair had a similar winning score against Catford’s second pair of Brian Brass and Jeff Titus.

The visitors’ Roy Bushell and Sean Jefferson accounted for Brass and Titus on a 6-4 6-2 scoreline.

The small consolation of one set came when Wanderers’ Dawbarn and Clay took a set off Bushell and Jefferson but all too little too late.
