The tallest building in Croydon will open its flats to residents early next year

Flats in Croydon’s new tallest building are expected to be ready to welcome the first residents early next year.
The massive towers at 101 George Street have shot up in record time.
It took just 35 weeks for the 44 and 38-storey towers to be built by Tide Construction and it is the world’s tallest modular building.
That is half the time it takes for a traditional skyscraper to be built, due to the ‘modules’ being made at a factory in Bedford before being transported to Croydon.
The 546 flats will not go up for sale though, as the development from Henderson Park and Greystar is a ‘build to rent’ scheme.
It is now known as Ten Degrees and will include a rooftop gym, yoga studio, games room and even a pet spa.
It was previously thought it would be ready for people to move in during the summer but the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the completion of the building.
Ten Degrees is not currently taking reservations but people can register their interest for when it is ready.
Monthly rental costs are expected to be £1,450 for a one-bedroom, £1,880 for a two-bedroom and £2,195 for a three-bedroom flat.
On the promotional website, the developer writes: “Ten Degrees is a striking addition to South London’s skyline. Relax in one of our two roof terraces and drink in breath-taking views of central London to the north, and green space to the south.
“Inside, its mid-century interiors are the height of style, offering residents plenty of communal spaces to work, rest or play.”
The building is now the tallest in Croydon, a title previously held by the Saffron Tower at 43-storeys.
This was completed in 2018 and a one-bedroom flat in the development will cost you £1,100-£1,400.
