Words of Wandsworth anthology poetry by Emma Anthony at the Wandsworth Archives
An initiative has been launched for local writers and artists to contribute stories, poems, photographs and artwork, writes Davina Hyde.
The Words of Wandsworth anthology is a collection of poetry by Emma Anthony at the Wandsworth Archives and Moishe House Clapham, a Jewish community centre in Wandsworth, and the door has been open to everyone in the borough, not just professional writers and artists.
Juli Fejer started painting in 2018 and uses it to deal with chronic pain, and has sold 650 paintings since.
This year she has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition, and her work was previously part of Framed, a street art exhibition by Wandsworth council.
Kirstin McNeal is a writer and innovation advisor, and her first book is My Brother is a Vampire.
She is a mother of two who loves exploring South London. Angela Douglas is a photojournalist and a radio presenter and DJ at London Soul Radio.
Her entry was the first short story she had written but she’s keen to keep writing.
Other contributors include Maureen Docherty, Jason Chow, Cathy Hunter, Soren Froome-Lewis, Troy Cabida, Crispin Green, Deborah Thomas, Patrick Malone, Rebecca Caine, E Smith Dunlap, Hilaire, George Banks, Odle Muckian, Jason Wride, Sandra Porto, Lesley Stratchen and Lara Frankena.
Editor Emily Zinkin said: “We were blown away by the breadth of the submissions and the incredible talent that came our way, and are hoping to continue and expand the project next year.”
