Trains between Lewisham and Bexleyheath cancelled over Christmas

Passengers in South-east London have been warned of a 10-day railway closure this Christmas and New Year.
Network Rail is carrying out 10 days of track upgrades between December 24 and January 2, 2023.
The engineers will be working at a busy railway junction in Lewisham.
The track work means no trains will run through Lewisham, St John’s, New Cross or the Bexleyheath line throughout the closure.
Scott Brightwell, Southeastern’s operations and safety director, said: “We’re sorry about the inconvenience this line closure will cause our customers over Christmas, but it is essential improvement work that needs to be done on a very busy part of our network.”
A replacement bus service will run along the affected line and other London routes will be open as normal.
The work will include replacing rails which allow trains to cross lines and installing the electrified rail which powers trains, to improve reliability for passengers.
Preparatory and follow up work will take place on November 27, December 10 and 11, as well as January 7 and 8, 2023.
While the majority of the railway still remains open for travel, journeys into London Bridge may be rerouted or retimed.
Passengers in South-east London are advised to check journey planners before travelling.
