Women’s football: Crystal Palace pick up WSL Cup win as Charlton suffer narrow loss to Tottenham

Crystal Palace won 4-3 on penalties at Lewes in Wednesday’s Group D match in the FA WSL Cup.

Molly-Mae Sharpe’s 89th-minute penalty levelled for the Eagles, who had been trailing to Ini-Abasi Umotong’s spot-kick in the first period.

Sharpe, Aimee Everett, Sophie McLean and Gracie Pearse all converted for Palace in the shootout.

Charlton Athletic lost 1-0 at Tottenham in their opening match in the same competition.

Jiali Tang scored in the 51st minute to seal victory for the WSL outfit.

Charlton can go top of the Women’s Championship if they win at Lewes on Sunday
