Women’s football: Cup defeats for Charlton and Crystal Palace
Charlton bowed out of the FA Women’s Cup last weekend – with their former goalkeeper Megen Lynch key to their downfall against London Bees.
Lynch made saves in normal time for Lois Heuchan, Charlie Devlin and Grace Coombs and then saved two penalties in the shootout as the hosts went through 4-2.
Coombs, pictured inset, said: “We dominated the game and just couldn’t get the goal we deserved.
“Megen Lynch is a great goalkeeper. She made some great saves and took a lot of crosses well. But we have to be more clinical.”
Crystal Palace lost 3-0 in the same competition to Tottenham at Bromley’s Hayes Lane, with former Addicks striker Kit Graham netting in the final 10 minutes.
