Charlton Athletic bank £300k loan fee from Corey Blackett-Taylor switch to Derby County
Charlton Athletic winger Corey Blackett-Taylor has joined Derby County on loan.
The South London Press understands that a fee – in the region of £300,000 – has been paid to the Addicks for the pacey attacker, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
The Rams have a strict business plan that has to be adhered to since exiting administration and so the structure of the switch helps make sure they stay the right side of the parameters set. They have confirmed that a permanent transfer will take place in the summer.
Because of the structure of the deal it means Blackett-Taylor is eligible to face Charlton when they head to Pride Park on February 3.
Blackett-Taylor had refused to sign a new deal with Charlton and had been a prime target for Derby boss Paul Warne in the summer transfer window.
The former Aston Villa youngster has landed a move back nearer to his roots and Derby are also firmly in the promotion shake up.
Charlton technical director Andy Scott told their website: “We’d like to thank Corey for his contribution to Charlton during his time here.
“Over this season we have made Corey a number of very attractive contract offers but he was very clear he wanted to move closer to home and that Derby was his preferred option. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it was important to make sure we got the best deal for the club in this situation.
“We’ve been able to negotiate a sizeable loan fee which will go into the continual improvements we are looking to make to the men’s first-team squad.”
Blackett-Taylor scored nine goals and collected seven assists for Charlton in the first half of the campaign.
