Millwall striker rooting for Barnsley to reach the Premier League
Millwall striker Tom Bradshaw is rooting for his former club Barnsley to win the Championship play-offs.
The Tykes finished fifth in the table and will face Swansea City in a two-legged affair. The first leg is next Monday at Oakwell.
The victor will face either Brentford or Bournemouth at Wembley for a place in the Premier League.
Bradshaw, 28, made 93 appearances for Barnsley before joining the Lions in August 2018.
“It’s been one of those seasons for them where everything has gone right,” said Bradshaw. “They went 11 games winning and to do that in the Championship, you kind of earn everyone’s respect. They’ve kept that momentum. It’s an unbelievable achievement.
“They are a well-run club with hungry young lads in their squad. I believe they have beaten all the other clubs in the play-offs so there is absolutely no reason why they can’t go up, even if they are the underdogs.
“There’s been a big change in managers and players since I was there but I got on really well with Alex Mowatt. We have stayed in touch. I think he’s more surprised than anyone. Even Barnsley’s fans would have been slightly optimistic to say they’d be finishing in the play-offs. They should be proud of themselves.”
