Millwall boss provides injury update on Jed Wallace and Luke Freeman
Gary Rowett gave an injury update on Luke Freeman and Jed Wallace – with the latter still having a chance of featuring next weekend in Millwall’s home game against relegated Peterborough.
The Lions duo were both absent as the Lions drew 2-2 at Birmingham City this afternoon.
Wing-back Scott Malone, who came off against Hull on Monday with a hamstring injury, also did not feature. We had revealed earlier this afternoon the left-footer was expected to be out for between four and six weeks.
Rowett said: “Luke’s not played for a long time and at this stage of the season, it’s difficult to gamble on players that haven’t played much.
“He’s got loads of quality but you have to go with players that have played games and have impacted games.
“While Luke would be great to have on the bench because of the way he can fill different positions, at the moment it’s really difficult to do that. We’re hoping Jed Wallace may have an outside chance to be fit for Peterborough.
“Scottie Malone will be definitely done for pretty much the rest of the season and we will try and do everything we can. Hopefully I won’t have to put Coops up front again.”
