Charlton Athletic knocked out of FA Women’s Cup by Birmingham City
Charlton Athletic Women bowed out of the FA Cup at the fifth round stage after a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City yesterday.
Ashley Hodson’s goal in the 110th minute settled the tie.
Addicks manager Karen Hills said: “Both teams cancelled each other out and it took a little bit of individual brilliance from them in the later stages of extra time to go and win it.
“I’ve got a bunch of girls in there who are very resilient and want to work for each other. You saw that right up until the dying moments – still pressing and still wanting to try and get something from the game.
“That’s not in my character, to give up in any moment, and it is certainly not in their’s either.
“It is disappointing to exit the cup the way that we have but I’m really proud and pleased with the girls, to just go toe to toe with a very good Birmingham side.”
