Bill Wyman’s Chelsea takes on the musician’s iconic memories of the area

Bill Wyman is coming to Chelsea, but this time he’s coming without his bass.

On July 1, Mr Wyman will be in the shop cafe and market, Partridges, in Duke of York Square, King’s Road.

He will be signing copies of his new book, Bill Wyman’s Chelsea: From Medieval Village to Cultural Capital.

The guide book explores the transformation of Chelsea, where he has worked on and off since 1962 and lived since 1982.

Bill Wyman’s Chelsea takes on the musician’s personal and often iconic memories of the area, including four walking tours, an A-Z and more than 300 photographs, many of which he took himself.

Attendees of the event will get to meet Mr Wyman, buy signed copies of his book, and chat with the former Rolling Stone.

John Shepherd, owner of Partridges said: “Partridges was the vision of my late brother Sir Richard Shepherd, who in the 1960s studied at the LSE with Bill’s fellow Rolling Stone Mick Jagger.

“At the time Richard made it widely known that Mick would be better off concentrating on his studies so that he could always fall back on a job in secondary school education if the music didn’t work out.

“This is now regarded as one of the worst pieces of advice ever dispensed in the 1960s. For myself, I will not be offering Bill Wyman any career advice!”.
