Man found dead with facial injuries near park

A man was found dead with “facial injuries” in a road close to a park on Friday morning.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called at around 8am to reports of an incident at the junction between Hatton Close and Garland Road, near Shrewsbury Park in Greenwich.

A LAS spokeswoman said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.

“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police were called to the scene at around 8.10am.

A spokesman from the Met said: “Police attended the scene and found a man with injuries to his face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police have begun enquiries to identify the man and notify next of kin.

A spokesman from the Met said: “There have been no arrests a this point and the Met’s Specialist Crime Command has been notified.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting reference CAD 1394/15DEC.

“You can also provide information 100 per cent  anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.”
