AFC Wimbledon boss: There is no desire to sell star striker Al-Hamadi
Johnnie Jackson says it would take a ridiculous offer for AFC Wimbledon to even consider selling Ali Al-Hamadi in the January window.
The 21-year-old has 20 goal contributions – 14 goals and six assists – in all competitions this season.
“We have no interest in selling Ali in January,” said Dons boss Jackson following the 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton on Boxing Day. “He’s very much a part of what we’re doing here.
“We all hope he’s going to stay. You know what football is like, if a ridiculous offer comes in then you have to consider all your opinions. But the club is very clear in their stance that there is no desire to sell Ali in this window – we’re all on the same page about that.
“We have learned our lessons from previous windows. We’re all clear about how we see it.”
Wimbledon take on lowly Colchester today and then head to bottom of the table Forest Green on New Year’s Day. The Dons dropped out of the play-off places on Tuesday after a defeat at home to Sutton, who picked up their first away win of the 2023-24 campaign.
“It’s a punch on the nose but we go again [against Colchester] and look to put it right,” said Jackson.
