Millwall boss not expecting ‘absolute warrior’ Wallace to feature against Huddersfield Town

Millwall defender Murray Wallace is not expected to be available for Saturday’s Championship fixture at Huddersfield.

The Scot started in Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Rotherham United but came off after suffering what head coach Neil Harris described as “a bit of whiplash” after an aerial challenge with Sam Nombe in the opening minutes.

Wallace’s absence would leave Millwall short on that side of the pitch with Joe Bryan (groin) sitting out the fixture at New York Stadium.

“Muzza is an absolute warrior,” said Harris, talking to the South London Press on Wednesday. “He has been chomping at the bit and desperate to play – I’ve had some really constructive conversations about his desire and how hard he has trained.

“I picked him on Monday to play at Rotherham because I felt he was pivotal to the game and what the game stood for.

“I was gutted for him. He was really upset in himself about coming off – I don’t remember over probably Muzza’s 400 or 500-odd game career that he has come off many times with injury.

“It is a real blow for Murray Wallace to come off in a game of football – you know something isn’t quite right.

“Murray is going to be scanned and we’ll await the results. How likely he is for the weekend, it’s very difficult to come off and then be ready for the following weekend.

“I don’t expect to see Murray being involved this weekend.”
