Ukrainian pupils among top achievers at proud Alleyn’s

The head teacher of Alleyn’s School is one of many who have expressed their profound pride at results obtained by their students in their year’s A-levels.

The school, in Townley Road, Dulwich, reports that 95 per cent of exams taken were awarded an A-B grade – 76 per cent received an A or A and 39 per cent received A*.

Some 92 per cent of Alleyn’s students met offers for their first choice of university or insurance choices, and students taking English literature, chemistry, biology, film studies and modern foreign languages subjects were awarded their highest ever percentage of A* grades.

Five students were recognised by exam boards as being among the country’s best performers in their subjects.

Head teacher Jane Lunnon said: “We are incredibly proud of every single one of our Year 13s for their achievements at A-level and the individual journey they have taken at Alleyn’s.

“Their results demonstrate the hard work and passion they have shown every day and their strong performance across STEM, the humanities and the arts subjects reflects their wide-ranging interests across the breadth of our curriculum.

“We also celebrate the success of two Ukrainian students, who have been studying with us since fleeing war in Ukraine, and who have both secured places at their first choice UK universities.

“Most importantly, this year group have been courageous, kind and supportive of one another through the challenges of Covid, and beyond, with their achievements – a testament to their tenacity and strength of character, and also, maybe most importantly of all, to their sense of friendship and sense of fun.”

She added: “They have been a joy to work with and we wish them every happiness as they leave us to study an exciting range of disciplines at a range of destinations, including Oxbridge, the Russell Group universities and overseas.”
