Woman stabbed at Notting Hill carnival caught in fight between two groups, police say

Three men have been arrested as part of a Met investigation into the stabbing of a 32-year-old woman at Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday afternoon.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder. 

Two other men, aged 24 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. 

All three were arrested at separate addresses in Hammersmith and Fulham this morning. They remain in custody.

Commander Charmain Brenyah, the Met’s spokesperson for Notting Hill Carnival, said: “Our thoughts, first and foremost, are with the woman who is fighting for her life in hospital and with her loved ones.

“She came to Carnival to have fun, with her young child, and was caught up in the most awful violence.”

Cops deployed in Golborne Road, as part of the Carnival policing operation, were made aware of a woman who had been stabbed at around 6pm.

The officers, including police medics, gave emergency medical treatment until the arrival of paramedics. The woman was transported to hospital where she remains in a critical condition, the Met said.

While the investigation is ongoing, police believe the woman got caught up in the middle of an altercation between two groups of men. 

It is not yet clear if they were known to her.

A spokesman from the Met said: “We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward by calling police on 101, messaging @MetCC on X or calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

“Our investigations into the other incidents over the weekend continue.”
