Helicopter drama for Zian Flemming as he discusses deadline day switch from Millwall to Burnley

Zian Flemming has talked about his transfer deadline day move from Millwall to Burnley – with his first time ever in a helicopter part of his dramatic switch to.

The South Londoners loaned their Amsterdam-born attacker with to the Clarets with an obligation to buy in the deal.

At least one Burnley supporter on social media was following and updating on Flemming’s flight up north.

“I had been made aware by a Dutch friend of mine who saw it on Twitter – that someone had tracked me on the flight,” Flemming told Burnley’s official website. “I didn’t know it was possible. It was that helicopter that I was on.

“It sums up transfer deadline day that I travelled in that fashion.”

Burnley had a number of bids rejected for Flemming last summer.

The former Fortuna Sittard number 10, who netted 15 times in his first campaign in English football, ended up staying with Millwall.

“Then there was serious interest all over the summer,” said Flemming. “Burnley had just gone up to the Premier League, so that would’ve been moving to the Premier League. That deal, in the end, didn’t get done. I played another year at Millwall.”

Flemming says that Burnley made another offer last Thursday with the transfer window closing at 11pm on Friday.

“That was just before training,” he said. “I still didn’t really know the details and how serious it was. I went to training and then spoke to my agent and my dad and figured out it was pretty serious. Maybe my world would be upside down in the next 24 hours or maybe not.

“He (his dad) is always involved in everything, but also on the football side.

“In the Championship they (Burnley) are one of the biggest clubs and one of the favourites to go up again. They have just come down from the Premier League and there is big ambition to play in the top half of the Championship.”
