Two appear at the Old Bailey in relation to Notting Hill Carnival killings

Two men – one of them from Hammersmith – have appeared in court charged with the separate incidents during the Notting Hill Carnival which led to two deaths.

Omar Wilson, 31, appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday accused of attacking 41-year-old Dubai chef Mussie Imnetu outside the Dr Power restaurant in Queensway on August 26.

Mr Imnetu, who had worked for famous chefs Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, was found unconscious with a head injury at around 11.20pm and died in hospital on August 30.

Wilson, of Napier Road, Leytonstone, originally charged with causing grievous bodily harm, has now been charged with murder.

The prosecution alleged Wilson headbutted Mr Imnetu after an interaction, then punched him five times in the head and continued to do so after he fell to the floor.

Wilson was remanded in custody until November 25, with a projected trial date of February 3 next year.

In a separate hearing, also at the Old Bailey, 20-year-old Shakiel Thibou, of Masbro Road, Hammersmith, appeared in court charged with fatally stabbing mother Cher Maximen.

The 32-year-old was attending the family day event at the carnival on August 25 when she was stabbed in the groin. She died from her injuries on August 31.

Thibou appeared in court via video link from HMP Belmarsh.
