‘We’ve got seven or eight massive injuries’ – Charlton boss Jones on mounting list of unavailable players

Charlton manager Nathan Jones was left ruing his side’s mounting injury list after today’s 1-1 draw against Wrexham at The Valley.

The Addicks were forced into a change in the opening minutes of the match with Tennai Watson replaced by Rarmani Edmonds-Green.

Charlton are already missing key defenders in Lloyd Jones and Kayne Ramsay, the latter expected to be sidelined for a sustained period due to a knee injury.

“They always battle [in games] – we just need a little more know-how,” said Jones.

“Let’s be honest – we have got seven or eight massive injuries. Big injuries.

“Lloyd Jones is key to us. Kayne Ramsay is key to us. We’ve got Gassan (Ahadme), Chuks (Aneke) and Daniel Kanu [out] – we are talking about players that would start for us. Chuks would impact. And the other injuries we have as well. Dan Potts – injured. These are players that are big, physical and strong – they’d have gone up and affected the game far more than we did.

“I felt Wrexham went into front and were able to build something because we weren’t as dominant as we should’ve been on that first ball. If we’d done that I think it would’ve been a different outcome.

“In spells we were good, in spells we weren’t but we should a lot of character. Scored two, kept going until the end – with belief. It feels like a point gained today whereas Tuesday it was definitely two points dropped.”
